Georgetown’s record-setting success at the local (33 Halton championships, including 24 in a row from 2000-25) and provincial level (21 Ontario high school (OFSAA) championships) is unmatched. The team has won 46 division titles at OFSAA, including 14 senior boys and 12 senior girls victories, and its swimmers have earned 91 individual and relay gold medals.

Georgetown won its first of six straight Halton titles in 1978. It had its breakthrough in 1981 when it won its first OFSAA championship, earning a relay and two individual gold medals.

The team defended its OFSAA title in 1982 and 1983. In 1984, Georgetown scored 315 points, winning by a then-record 191 points. To put that in perspective, the team scored 205 in winning the 1983 championship. It extended its run to six straight provincial titles in 1985 and 1986.

Despite several top-three finishes, Georgetown didn’t regain the provincial title until 2004. In 2008, Georgetown won a team record seven OFSAA gold medals, but settled for second place.

When Georgetown won in 2009, it began a dominating run of 13 consecutive OFSAA titles.

Georgetown won all four high school divisions three times in four years (2013-16). The team amassed an OFSAA record 1743 points in 2014 and it’s eighth straight championship in 2016 set an OFSAA record for most consecutive titles in any sport.

In 2019, Georgetown edged York Mills Collegiate by 42 points to extend its streak to 11 straight titles.

Over the years, two former Georgetown OFSAA champions, Krista Nicholls and Jon Newcombe, have returned to coach the team. Nicholls helped grow the para division, which Georgetown has won four times at OFSAA.
